TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF BROWNSTOWN:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Presidential Primary Election will be held in the Charter Township of Brownstown, State of Michigan, on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. prevailing Eastern Time, for the purpose of electing candidates for the following offices:

President of the United States

The places of voting for the Primary Election to be held on March 8, 2016, will be as follows:

Precincts 1 and 9: Brownstown Community Center, 21311 Telegraph Rd., 48183
Precincts 2 and 3: Gudith School, 22700 Sibley Rd., 48193
Precinct 4: Wegienka School, 23925 Arsenal Rd., 48134
Precincts 5 and 10: Woodhaven High School, 24787 Van Horn Rd., 48134
Precincts 6 and 7: Hunter School, 21320 Roche, 48183
Precincts 8 and 11: Downriver High School, 33211 McCann Rd., 48173

All polling locations are handicap accessible. To obtain election instructions in an alternative format (audio or Braille), or for any further information, contact the Clerk's Office at 21313 Telegraph Rd., Brownstown, Michigan, 48183, (734) 675-0910, prior to Election Day.

 

Absentee Ballots

APPLICATIONS FOR ABSENTEE VOTER BALLOTS are now available from the Office of the Township Clerk, 21313 Telegraph, for qualified electors who are: 60 years of age or older; expect to be absent from the community in which they are registered for the entire time the polls are open on election day; physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another; cannot attend the polls because of tenets of their religion; have been appointed an election precinct inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where they reside; or cannot attend the polls because they are confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial; for the PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY which will be voted on:

TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2016

In accordance with Section 168.615c.(1) of the Michigan Compiled Election Law, in order to vote at a presidential primary election, an elector shall indicate in writing, on a form prescribed by the secretary of state, which political party ballot he or she wishes to vote when appearing at a presidential primary election.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Clerk's Office will be open on SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. which is the deadline for acceptance of Absentee Ballot Applications to be voted outside of the Clerk's Office, in accordance with section 168.759 of the Michigan Compiled Law.

EMERGENCY ABSENT VOTER APPLICATIONS will be issued to any registered elector at any time prior to 4:00 P.M. on election day if he/she should become physically disabled or shall be absent from the Township because of sickness or death in the family which has occun-ed at a time which has made it impossible to apply for an absent voter ballot by the statutory deadline (MCL 168.759b).

 

CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF BROWNSTOWN NOTICE OF CLOSE OF REGISTRATION PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY OF MARCH 8, 2016 LAST DAY TO REGISTER

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 for the purpose of a Presidential Primary. The last day on which persons may register with the appropriate City/Township Clerks to be eligible to vote at the foresaid election, is MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2016. If you currently are not registered to vote or have changed your address, you may do so in the following manner:

    In Person:
    • At your Township Clerk's Office or at the Wayne County Clerk's Office during their normal business hours Monday through Friday.
    • At any Secretary of State Branch offices located throughout the state during normal business hours.
    • At the specified agency for clients receiving services through the Family Independence Agency, the Depattment of Community Health, Michigan Jobs Commission and some offices of the Commission for the Blind.
    • At the military recruitment offices for persons enlisting in the armed forces.

    By Mail
    • By obtaining and completing a Mail-In Voter Registration Application and forwarding it to the election official as directed on the application by the close of registration deadline. MailIn voter registration applications may be obtained from the Depatiment of State website at www.michigan.gov/sos or by contacting your local Clerk's Office.

QUALIFICATIONS: A citizen of the United States and resident of the Township, who is at least 18 years of age and has lived in the State of Michigan, Charter Township of Brownstown for at least 30 days prior to March 8, 2016.

The last day to register to vote for the Presidential Primary Election to be held Tnesday, March 8, 2016, is Monday, February 8, 2016.

In said Presidential Primary Election, the candidates for the following offices are to be voted upon in Wayne County:

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR THE DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PARTIES

In accordance with Section 168.615c.(l) of the Michigan Compiled Election Law, in order to vote at a presidential primary election, an elector shall indicate in writing, on a form prescribed by the secretary of state, which political patty ballot he or she wishes to vote when appearing at a presidential primary election.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC ACCURACY TEST

hi compliance with State Election Law 168 Section 798, a Public Accuracy Test will be conducted on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 3:30 P.M. in the Township Hall, 21313 Telegraph Road, for the purpose of certifying the program to be used in the counting devices which will be utilized to process voter ballots in the March 8, 2016 Presidential Primary Election. Said meeting is open to the public and any concerned citizen may attend.

The Brownstown Township Board will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities at the Wednesday, February 24, 2016 Public Accuracy Test upon advanced notice to the Brownstown Township Clerk, by writing or calling: Sherry A.
