The Charter Township of Brownstown began its cross connection program in 2006. This program is required by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. To ensure a safe drinking water system for all customers, the Township administers its program in house with staff from the Department of Public Works. The most up to date manual can be found here
The manual requires all low hazard connections to be inspected every three years and all high hazard connection to be inspected every year. The Township will mail out reminder letters for inspections.
