Curbside Recycling Overview
Brownstown’s curbside recycling program runs every-other-week. (2018-2021 Recycling Schedule). Place the cart at the curb before 6:00 a.m. on your collection day or no earlier than 4:00 p.m. the night before your collection day. Follow cart placement instructions on lid. Face lid opening towards the street. Place recycling at least 3 feet from your rubbish or other containers. Questions, please call Waste Management at (866) 797-9018.
Accepted Items (All Items should be Clean. Do not bag items.)
Boxboard/Cardboard - Includes pizza boxes, shipping boxes, and food boxes. Flatten as needed.
Newspapers, Magazines & Catalogs
Junk Mail, Office Paper & Phonebooks
Glass Bottles & Jars - All colors accepted.
Household Metals - Empty cans, foil, pains, and small scrap metal are accepted.
Plastic Containers - All narrow neck and wide-mouth plastic bottles and containers (#1, #2, #4-7. Caps may be left on bottles.
Paper Drink Cartons - plastic-coated paper beverage cartons, including milk and juice cartons.

SPECIAL COLLECTION EVENTS
Spring & Fall Cleanups
The township provides annual Spring & Fall Cleanups along with a Shred Day. During the Spring & Fall Cleanup weeks, a limited tire dropoff is provided at the Township Hall for Township residents. Items containing Freon can be placed at the curb and will be removed at no charge during the week of the Spring and Fall Cleanup.

The Township also provides an annual document shredding day each fall for Township residents.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE & E-CYCLING SCHEDULE
Wayne County’s Department of Environment is hosts four Household Hazardous Waste Collections each year for County residents. The collections are designed to accept unwanted household chemicals for proper disposal and electronics for recycling from residents. Visit their website for dates and locations.
