About Our Manager

Brian Peters was appointed as Brownstown Township’s first Township Manager in February 2021. Prior to his work as Township Manager, Brian served at Brownstown as Township Clerk from 2016 – 2021 and as a Township Trustee from 2012 – 2016. In addition, Brian has served as the Chairman of the Brownstown Election Commission, a Commissioner on the Brownstown Zoning Board of Appeals, and as Brownstown’s delegate to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), serving on the organization’s Executive Committee from 2016 – 2021.

Brian is a lifelong resident of the Downriver Community. After graduating from Riverview Community High School and earning a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, he has spent his career working in various public policy and administrative roles for the Michigan State Senate and for the Wayne County Commission.

In Lansing, Brian served as a liaison for the Downriver Community, working to bridge the gap between local communities and the work being done in the State Legislature. On staff for the Wayne County Commission, Brian worked with the Commission’s Audit Committee, helping to identify and implement savings and efficiencies in county government.
